EPISODE FOURTEEN: Adetherian Gurtentogen

Mori-Kami: "So I am defeated. My temple has been invaded and conquered. And so, I shall fall."

With that, the huge stone statue of the Forest God begins to fall forward toward where the party is standing. Danika and TRITHAL manage to drag THRAX's now-much heaver draconian body off to the side fast enough to avoid being crushed by Mori-Kami's stone body. When Mori-Kami hits the ground, the whole room begins to crumble and collapse. Luckily enough, this unblocks the passage to the exit. TRITHAL pulls out a scroll and casts BASIC REVIVE on THRAX, which restores his life to about 20 HP.

TRITHAL: "Get up, Thrax! Let's move out!!"

THRAX (groggy & disoriented): "Huh? Wha?"

TRITHAL: "On your feet! Let's get the fuck outta here before we get buried!"

THRAX stands up (with his body still part-draconian) and can now see what is happening. The rest of the party starts running for the exit. THRAX soon catches up.

Just before they reach the exit, a large, cocoon-shaped object made of clay and dirt falls to the ground directly in front of the party and shatters... to reveal what appears to be an unconscious human dressed in ancient-style clothing. Thinking quickly, TRITHAL and Danika grab the person and carry him up the stairs and to the pit the party fell into 4 episodes ago.

On one side of the pit, there is now a pile of dirt tall enough for the party to climb out with. Once everyone was out of the pit, they ran like hell toward the stream they encountered earlier. About 10 seconds later, a huge cloud of dirt and forest debris is belched out of the ground followed by a loud rumbling sound, where the Temple of Mori-Kami collapsed.

When they get to the stream, TRITHAL withdraws a portable save point and attaches it to a tree. The whole party uses it to save their place, and all the EXP they earned in the previous battle. Everyone then takes account of their stats and supplies, and casts recovery spells upon themselves to restore their lowered stats.

TRITHAL and Danika examine the unconscious person they rescued from the collapsing temple. TRITHAL boosts his energy to where his eyes glow blue, then looks over the person.

TRITHAL: "He's alive, and now breathing. It looks like he's been unconscious for a very long time. When he wakes up, he may not appear to be 'all there'."

Danika took over the care of the rescued person as TRITHAL stepped off to the side to answer his ringing cell phone. By the time he finishes the conversation, the person is awake.

Stranger: "Woah... what the hell, man! What happened?"

TRITHAL: "We found you encased in dirt and clay in Mori-Kami's temple. We managed to get you outta there before the whole thing collapsed."

Stranger: "Really? The temple collapsed? Mori-Kami has been defeated? Sweet... i think..."

Danika: "Can you tell us your name?"

The stranger thinks for a minute, then says "Uh, My name is... uhh.... wait, don't tell me... oh yeah! My name is Adetherian Gurtentogen. I'm a soldier in the army of Doman, Lord of the southern lands. Who the hell are you? What's with your weird clothes?"

TRITHAL: "Well, my name is Trithal the Divine Wind, Master of the Kaze Sword. This is my wife Dankia..."

Danika: "Hello!"

TRITHAL: "... That's Thrax the Hell-Fire, Master of being a complete slacker, and next to him is his latest bitch Anri."

In response, THRAX and Anri give TRITHAL the finger.

Adetherian: "Nice to meet you guys. So where are you guys from? Those clothes can't be from around here! What are you all doing here in Atheria?

Anri: "'Atheria'? What are you talking about? This is East Valley Parish in Morgura Prefecture. We're just outside the village of Laurenstown."

Adetherian: "Huh? What's a 'Morgura Prefecture'?"

TRITHAL: (interjects) "We'll have more time to explain later. Right now we need to head back to town. That was Jeff on the phone. There's some official-looking car parked in front of our house with Mount Sabretooth government plates, and some dude in a dark suit and sunglasses is asking about us."

Danika: "Mount Sabretooth? What could that be about?"

TRITHAL: "Beats the shit outta me. I guess we need to go find out."

With that, the party crosses the stream and retraces their path out of the forest and back toward town. Along the way, the party engages in conversation with this new person.

TRITHAL: "Now, how did you pronounce your name? A-death-ee-ry-something?"

Adeth: "Close. It's Adetherian Gurtentogen. Most people just call me 'Adeth'."

TRITHAL: "That's too cumbersome. I think I'll call you 'Dude'."

Danika: "You're one to talk, Trithal Tsutaru."

TRITHAL: "Pssh! Whatever!"

Adeth (to TRITHAL): "Wait, what was your name?"

TRITHAL: "Trithal Tsutaru. Why?"

"Treh-thaul Soo-taah-roo?" Adeth appeared to space out for a brief moment then in what looked like a stoner-fide daze said "Woah! That's trippy man!!! I was wondering why you looked like you were from both the western territories and the eastern lands! Your name is a combination of the Western language and the Eastern language! I've never met anyone with such a bizarre heritage! Awesome, man!"

TRITHAL: "Y-eah. My dad was born in Ghon-Ki and my mom's parents were born in Kureganu. Ghon-Ki is East of here, and Kureganu is to the West. If you can't pronounce my name, you can call me Sensai."

Adeth: "Wow, that's awesome Sensai. But, I always thought the eastern tribe and the western tribe hated each other! How is it possible that you are born of an eastern and western parent? That seems impossible!"

TRITHAL: "For the last 3 centuries, the Land of Fantasy has been in a general peace. Everyone mostly gets along with everyone else since the Nengo treaty was ratified."

Adeth: "You mean to tell me that I've been 'stoned' in the temple for more than 300 years? Dude! That's far out!"

TRITHAL: "What's the last year you remember?"

Adeth: "Uh, I think the 89th year of Doschat. What year is it now?"

Danika: "Now it's the 327th year of Nengo."

TRITHAL: "You've been 'stoned' for closer to 400 years, Dude."

Adeth: "Four hundred years? Damn! So what all have I missed these past 4 centuries?"

TRITHAL: "That's a discussion for a later time. We're here."

By this time, the party has cleared the forest and have made it back to the spot by the tree where Hitukiri and Minako are buried. From there they can see into the valley where Laurenstown sits. Adeth stares in amazement over how much the land has changed since he last saw it. TRITHAL gets Adeth to snap out of his daze as the group of 5 makes their way down into the valley and into town.
